Jess Wheeler and Edward Bulmer Collaborate on a New Lighting Collection
This October, renowned designer Jess Wheeler joins forces with Edward Bulmer, a pioneer in natural paints, to create a truly unique lighting collection. Fueled by a shared passion for the natural world, their collaboration blossomed after an inspiring walk through Edward’s captivating garden and woodland.
United by their love of the Acanthus plant, a symbol with deep roots in both ancient and modern design, Jess and Edward decided to draw inspiration directly from nature. Leaves from Edward’s garden were cast, creating organic forms that Jess then transformed into her signature wall lights.
This marks a first for Jess: each piece were hand-painted in stunning autumnal hues, meticulously chosen by the duo from Edward Bulmer’s natural paint collection. This collaboration beautifully blends their creative languages, with the organic forms of the Acanthus meeting the warm colors of natural paint.
Edward perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the project: “No other plant unites the ancient and modern world, architecture and sculpture, nature and artifice quite like Acanthus. My roots are in classical architecture and its roots are in the adoption of forms first used over two thousand years ago. Prince among these was the Acanthus plant with its wonderful leaves and tendrils. I could think of no better leaf to offer Jess to work her magic; it grows today, as it did then, with the vigour to reach skyward with its towering floral bracts and luxurious lobed leaves.”
This unique collection promises to illuminate homes with not only light, but also a touch of Nature’s beauty, a testament to the power of collaboration and shared inspiration.
