Manoir du Vau d’Arz

A Journey Through Time in Brittany

Imagine stepping onto the history-laden grounds of the Manoir du Vau d'Arz in Brittany. A manor where time seems to stand still, where every stone whispers a story. And among those stories, that of Venus, the playful little cat who will follow you everywhere, adding a touch of warmth to your stay.

Noble Origins (1449-1540)
The year is 1449. In its beginnings, the Manor was a simple hunting lodge for the Bishop of Redon, Jacques d'Espinay. From this era, the Tower and the Library remain, silent witnesses to centuries past. Then, in 1540, the Manor took on a new dimension. It became the residence of Lord Michiel du Vaudart, a family of knights since 1339. The estate expanded, including the Moulin du Vau d'Arz and lands around Rochefort-en-Terre and Malansac.

The Passing Centuries (1700-1900)
The Michiel de Carmoy family took over in the 18th century. But the Manor evolved. In 1728, it transformed into a farm, ceded to the Dondel du Fouedic family in 1843. The 20th century saw another metamorphosis: the Manor became a secondary residence, and the square Tower was restored.

Renaissance (Since 2008)
In 2008, a major restoration returned the Manor to its former splendor. It blends the elegance of a manor with the comfort of a cottage. The wooden spiral staircase, nestled within the walls, is the hallmark of the place.

Today, the Manoir du Vau d’Arz opens its doors to you for a stay of relaxation and discovery. During your stay, you'll be warmly welcomed by Sophie and Dominique, the owners, who will ensure your experience is truly memorable. Enjoy the Nordic bath and sauna, wood-fired, for a unique sensory experience.
