Hello Sébastien, could you tell us about your first encounter with Le Mezo?
Four years ago, my wife and I fell in love with Domaine Le Mezo. We were captivated by the charm of the large park and the elegant yet intimate feel of the chateau and its outbuildings. We dreamed of renovating and operating it together, a dream that has now become a reality.

What is the history of the estate and how old is it?
The estate was built on a 15th-century manor and underwent transformations in the second half of the 19th century with the addition of the greenhouse and outbuildings.

You’ve done an exceptional job with the restoration. What was your vision when you started the renovation project?
To create a contemporary living space while preserving its history and environment. Together with my wife, Marie, we shared the same desire to create an elegant, cozy decor in an English country style that complements the park’s period style.

Could you tell us a bit about the restoration of the greenhouse?
The greenhouse was restored using traditional methods by a local blacksmith. We were careful to preserve its original spirit, especially the vines that were already growing there.

The park is full of majestic trees. Can we say it's an arboretum?
For us, it's a special green space to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Could you give us a brief inventory of the major specimens found there?
Plane tree, Platanus x hispanica, Platanaceae, 30 meters.
Coast redwood, Sequoia sempervirens, Taxodiaceae, 40 meters.
Holm oak, Quercus ilex, fagaceae, 20 meters.
American sweetgum, Liquidambar styraciflua, hamamelidaceae , 25 meters.
Weeping beech, Fagus sylvatica "pendula", fagaceae.
Silver fir, Abies alba, Pinaceae, 30 meters.

Which landscape architect did you work with?
Atelier du taillis and 5R paysage accompanied us throughout the project.

What are the future projects for Le Mezo?
The lodges below the ponds, which will open in the summer of 2025.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Come and experience it for yourself! We are an event venue open to everyone and we host weddings, seminars, and private stays. Our restaurant, La Table du Mezo, delights our guests. We also organize concerts, brunches, and more.
