Copenhagen
A Winter Wonderland
Join Isabel Moros as she takes you on a wintery adventure through the charming streets of Copenhagen. From indulging in a traditional Danish breakfast to wandering through the enchanting Tivoli Gardens, Isabel shares her favorite spots and hidden gems. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, a design lover, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, Copenhagen has something for everyone. So bundle up, grab a warm drink, and let's explore this Nordic paradise together.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Copenhagen twice. Not so lucky as both times happened in winter. But, who cares about frozen toes and leaking noses when you’re in the best-city-ever. Copenhagen has it all or, at least, all I need: picturesque and colourful streets, cozy cafés, cool but smiley people, interior shops, art galleries and a couple of friends with a nice apartment downtown. Jump on your bike and join me on this ride around my fav places in town.
Start the day Danish style:
As the Spaniard I am, I belong to “olive oil Europe” BUT Danish breakfast was my biggest discovery on my first trip: butter + cheese + a boiled egg + jam + rye bread = happiness (and a little stomachache due to the lactose overdose but who cares). It’s usually served until noon so, most days we had it for lunch too (in spite of my poor stomach).
My to-go places?
- Andersen&Maillard
- Lille Bakery
- La Banchina
- Atelier September
- Hart Bageri (best Cardamom croissant ever!)
- Orsa Coffee
Now we’re ready to hit the town!
Of course you must visit Nyhavn and take *the* picture in front of its colourful houses.
Tivoli is also a classic. When in winter: wander around the Christmas decorations while enjoying some Æbleskiver (pancake apple puffs) with mulled wine.
If you enjoy a Botanical Garden (which I guess you do since you’re reading me in Blumenhaus journal) don’t miss the Palm House and the Butterfly house in CPH Botanical Garden.
A museum is always a good idea, but specially when it starts snowing. Glyptoteket is full of treasures.
If you’re an architecture lover, the Black Diamond is a must.
For a breathtaking view: climb to the top of Our Saviour’s church.
Bonus track! If you are spending more than a couple of days in the city, take a train and visit the amazing Louisiana Museum and Karen Blixen house.
Again, if you are fond of architecture, stop by Arne Jacobsen gas station on your way to Louisiana Museum.
Let’s stop by to enjoy a quick lunch before we keep discovering the city
- Hot dogs at DØP
- Otto Pizza
- Worldwide famous Gasoline Grill burger
- Slurp ramen
Is it time to go souvenir hunting? IT IS TIME TO GO SOUVENIR HUNTING
