A Floral Journey in London

Chelsea Flower Show, Melia London Kensington & Bloomsbury Women Outdoors exhibition

As avid flower and plant enthusiasts, we were honored to be invited by the Melia London Kensington Hotel to experience the historic RHS Chelsea Flower Show. This grand event has been taking place on the grounds of the prestigious Royal Hospital Chelsea for over a century every May. A haven for floral inspiration, the Chelsea Flower Show offers gardening enthusiasts - an institution in England - a feast for the eyes. From vibrant flower beds to the most inventive greenhouse and balcony designs, every corner overflows with botanical discoveries and landscaping ideas to enhance our outdoor spaces.

To celebrate this event, and particularly the magnificent floral structure designed by Kitten Grayson & Jess Wheeler - The Enchanted Garden - an arch of beauty and delicacy blending wild nature with seasonal flowers and Jess’s brass flower sculptures, we were able to stay at the hotel. This installation, straight out of a fairy tale, opens the doors to the Melia London Kensington, a hotel that combines classic elegance with modernity.

The rooms and suites at the Melia London Kensington offer a sanctuary of refinement and absolute comfort. Furnished with noble materials and tastefully decorated, they invite relaxation and well-being, paying homage to the famous British artist and designer William Morris. A haven of peace in the heart of London’s hustle and bustle.

To celebrate our collaboration in style, a wonderful lunch, The Super Supper Club, took place at the hotel’s restaurant, the Hispania Kensington, where lovely encounters abounded and our worlds came together.

By a happy twist of fate, during our strolls through the festive London neighborhoods and at the invitation of the designer & photographer Belle Daughtry, we had the opportunity to meet our dear Sean A. Pritchard, to whom we had dedicated an interview in issue #4 on the occasion of the release of his book Outside In, A year of growing and displaying.

Finally, after a mandatory and enchanting visit to the iconic Liberty London store & our favorite paper shop in the world, Choosing Keeping, where we, as always, found paper treasures, we were lucky enough to visit the Garden Museum. Built in an old church, surrounded by a lush garden, we loved the current exhibition GARDENING BOHEMIA: BLOOMSBURY WOMEN OUTDOORS, the first exhibition to explore the gardens of the Bloomsbury group. The museum also houses a library, a shop, and a café, making it an ideal place to relax and recharge.

A quick hello to Westminster Palace, and off we went back to France with hearts full of memories, suitcases full of treasures, and dozens of inspirations for the next Blumenhaus magazine topics.
